The Banjo Summit Online is a 2-day banjo workshop aimed at teaching accessible techniques to add color to your traditional playing or take you beyond bluegrass. Regardless of your favorite styles, the Banjo Summit will expand your expertise and inspire countless new ideas that will raise your playing to new heights.
Amongst the dozens of music camps that exist today for bluegrass-style banjo, most are rooted in traditional folk music and bluegrass. Our camp endeavors to show the banjo can be used to play so much more music — jazz, world, swing, or classical. The faculty will couch many of these ideas back into traditional music, using fiddle and banjo tunes to contextualize the concepts. Learning techniques that are helpful in playing other genres can elevate your approach to playing traditional music.
One goal of the Banjo Summit is to encourage and inspire musicians to push the boundaries in their own playing — creatively and technically, yet this will invariably touch on affecting you emotionally. Things will move fast at the Banjo Summit and there is an expectation that if something is out of your comfort level — you should embrace the opportunity to sit back and grab what you can.
The camp is geared towards intermediate, advanced and professional musicians that play 3-finger style banjo.

why this camp is right for you
This faculty represents a small slice of the collective braintrust of new sounds and thought on the 5-string banjo. Our intent is to present topics and concepts both related to and beyond bluegrass and traditional folk music.
There is no beginner track at the Banjo Summit. There are many wonderful camps that offer this curriculum.
There is no clawhammer track at the Banjo Summit. While some concepts may be applicable for clawhammer players, the faculty will be presenting bluegrass-style, 3-finger banjo.
The lessons will be recorded and archived for future access for all tuition-paying students.
